Zrinjski Mostar vs Slovan Bratislava
UEFA Champions League Qualification
Date: 25 July 2023, Tuesday
Kick-off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Stadion Bijeli Brijeg (Mostar).
Zrinjski Mostar and Slovan Bratislava have some unsolved issues that date back to last year when they came across each other in the UEFA Europa Conference League playoffs round.
Slovan advanced to the group stage on penalties back then and Zrinjski will be keen to get their revenge this time around when the two outfits play each other in an even more important affair.
Neither outfit impressed in the opening round of the Champions League qualifications but they both somehow found ways to book this clash.
Zrinjski Mostar conceded a last-gasp goal in the second leg of their tie against Armenian champions Urartu to send the game to extra-time (in which the teams scored a goal each) and later penalties. The shootout series brought luck to the Bosnian champions this time around.
Slovan, on the other side, played a very strange double-header against Luxembourg’s champions Swift Hesperange in the first round.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Bratislava, Slovan won the reverse outing 0-2 on the road in a match that offered three penalties.
Swift missed theirs in the first half, while Vladimir Weiss scored both for Slovan in the second half to send his team to the second qualifying round.
Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning that Slovan allowed the Luxembourg’s outfit register as many as nine shots on target last Wednesday.
This will be the music to the ears of Nemanja Bilbija who has been Zrinjski’s top scorer in the last couple of seasons.
The experienced forward was also on target seven days ago in Mostar against Urartu and we surely expect him to get his chances this time around as well.
Both Zrinjski Mostar and Slovan Bratislava looked better offensively than defensively in the opening qualifying round and we like the look of the 1.85 odds offered for the Both Teams To Score option here.
You can also chase the attractive 2.50 odds offered for Zrinjski to get the win on Tuesday knowing how poor Slovan Bratislava looked in their double-header against the likes of Swift Hesperange.
