Steffen Schmidt - August 3, 2023
Wrexham vs MK Dons
English League Two
Date: 5 August 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: StoK Cae Ras (Wrexham).
Wrexham’s Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have managed to take the Welsh outfit back into Football League for the first time in 11 years.
Phil Parkinson’s men went toe-to-toe with Notts County in the battle for the National League silverware last year, eventually making it count via an incredible 111-point campaign.
Wrexham are now tipped to make it back-to-back promotions but both manager Parkinson and owners Reynolds & McElhenney know this accomplishment will be easier said than done.
The Welsh side will face a very serious test right at the beginning of their League Two quest on Saturday afternoon as they play host to MK Dons at StoK Cae Ras.
Milton Keynes have gone through rough times last year in League One, ending their four-year spell in the third tier of English football with a dismal campaign along the way.
The Dons managed just two points in the final seven league games last time out, a run that caused relegation that immediately meant parting ways with manager Mark Jackson.
Graham Alexander took the helm but he will face a very tough task to bed in all the new arrivals in Buckinghamshire.
MK Dons signed a host of new players this summer, including Craig MacGillivary, Alex Gibey, Tommy Smith, Cameron Norman, M.J. Williams, Nathan Harness, and Dan Kemp.
The Dons were dreadful in preseason, conceding eight goals in the last two defeats to Coventry City and Northampton Town.
MK Dons have shown too many defensive holes in preseason. They are up against one of the strongest teams in the division on the road on the opening day and we have no other option but to back the hosts to come on top in a high-scoring scenario.
Wrexham to win & Over 2.5 goals FT pick is our main betting option at the 2.50 odds while we will alternatively take the Over 1.5 goals in the first half bet at the 2.62 odds.
