Peter Green - July 23, 2019
Wolves vs Crusaders
Europa League Qualification
Date: Thursday, 25 July 2019
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Molineux Stadium (Wolverhampton).
The hosts are currently on a two-game unbeaten streak and have already won a trophy in their preseason campaign. The squad won the battle of nerves in their previous tie against Manchester City in the finals of the Premier League Asia Trophy, which was settled on penalties after the scores were tied at 0-0.
They also had an impressive season last year, which saw them finish seventh in the table to grab that final ticket to Europe.
The away side, on the other hand, are also unbeaten in their last two fixtures and booked their berth in the quarterfinals after beating B36 Torshavn by an aggregate 5-2 result. Their last encounter away from home against the latter, saw them threaten with thirteen attempts at goal, more than half of which made the goalkeeper work.
However, they are certainly the underdogs in this one, as the English side are unlikely to show any mercy to their counterparts when they face each other for the very first time this week.
Wolverhampton beat quite a few big names on home soil last season, including the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and even runners up Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Additionally, the team last lost out a match at this venue way back at the start of this year and have scored twenty-three goals so far whilst keeping four clean sheets.
The Irish outfit are currently on a three-match unbeaten streak in their trips on the road but that is not going to cut it against the home team who are certain to take down the visitors without breaking much of a sweat.
Expect nothing short of a high scoring clash, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men likely to walk away with the bragging rights and a clean sheet under their belt.
