Aron Wright - April 21, 2021
Willem II vs RKC Waalwijk
Netherlands – Eredivisie
Date: Friday, 23 April 2021
Kick-off at 17:45 UK/ 18:45 CET
Venue: Konig Willem II Stadion.
The Tricolores are placed 15th in the table, and are hanging by a thread over the relegation cut-off. In fact, the team just below them have the same number of points (but are in the relegation zone).
As such, points are in dire need for Zeljko Petrovic’s men. With just five matches remaining in the competition, it’s important that they climb to a safer position.
It helps their cause that they are pitted against the struggling RKC. Fred Grim’s men have lost majority of their games in recent weeks, and are conceding goals in plenty.
They are also going through a struggling stretch on the road, and importantly, they have a poor h2h record against this foe over the years.
For the reasons, expect Willem to deliver a compelling performance this Friday at the Konig Willem II Stadion.
Petrovic’s men were unbeaten in five of their former seven overall matches, and they had remained unbeaten in two of their last three appearances at home. The only defeat of these three fixtures at home had come against the third-placed Alkmaar.
On the other hand, their counterparts had lost four of their past five match-ups, and they were also winless in 37 of their preceding 45 overall games. Moreover, they have also won just twice on the road since December of 2019.
Finally, the Tricolores also have a great h2h record against this foe over the years.
Taking these observations into account, expect a great performance from Willem this weekend. Moreover, considering the desperation of either team to avoid getting the boot, expect goals in plenty too.
