Peter Green - October 18, 2019
Wigan vs Nottingham Forest
England – Championship
Date: Sunday, 20 October 2019
Kick-off at 14:00 UK / 15:00 CET
Venue: DW Stadium (Wigan).
Nottingham Forest have just been too hot to handle in their recent clashes and are likely to be a handful for Wigan despite the home advantage at hand for the latter.
Paul Cook’s men have hardly hit the ground running in their campaign and have admitted defeat in two of their last four fixtures. Their most recent matchup saw them at the losing end of a 1-0 scoreline against Sheffield Wednesday on the road, prior to which they were able to edge it past Birmingham with the same scorecard.
At the moment, the hosts are placed nineteenth in the table of twenty-four, with no more than three wins to their name.
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest have been a far more convincing bunch in their respective matches and have tasted success twice as many times as their counterparts. The visitors are unbeaten in their past ten matches in the Championship, the last of which saw them get the better of Brentford at home.
It is also worth mentioning that Nottingham Forest have shown no signs of slowing down, even on the road, and are one of the only three teams left to admit defeat away from home. Be that as it may, it needs saying that the visitors have not been faring well in their previous visits to this venue.
Taking into account that the hosts have forced their foes to share the spoils with them in five of their last seven meetings here, a double chance favoring the in-form Nottingham Forest is certainly the safest punt in this one.
Additionally, the away side have found the back of the net post the restart in each of their last six outings in the second division. Considering that they made no mistake in breaching Wigan after the break, in their last head to head clash here as well, by all means, count on Nottingham Forest to slot the ball home in the latter forty-five minutes this Sunday.
