Wigan Athletic vs Hull City
England- The Championship
Date: Tuesday 18th September 2018
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: DW Stadium (Wigan)
Wigan will welcome Hull in this 8th round of the Championship to be played in mid week.
Wigan under manager Paul Cook are in 11th place and the team have neither been good or bad so far. Inconsistancy instead has been the key where for one week they look like a top 6 side and the other like a bottom six side. Last weekend they lost to Brentford away from home by 2-0. But their home form is impressive where they have gained 7 points from a possible 9 and are unbeaten so far. Their last home match ended in a 1-0 win over Rotherham.
Hull are in 17th place and could join Wigan on the same points if they can win this game. Lose and even at this early stage a gap between mid table and 15th and down will start appearing so this is an important if tough game for the away side.
A 2-0 win last weekend against Ipswich was vital as it stopped a 2 game losing run and installed some confidence in the players. Away from home Hull’s record is won 1, lost 1 and drawn 1.
The teams are very even in quality and there isn’t much to separate them. History says this is a fixture where we see goals and that has to be our main pick for this game.
When many goals have came it’s always been the 2nd half too so we will also add this. Finally we will back a Wigan player to get a goal, Will Grigg has already scored 3 times this season and with the club facing poor opposition and being at home we fancy him to add to that tally.
