With Bayern out of the picture, DFB Pokal seems like a realistic target for some of the other titans in the German top flight – of which the Red Bulls are a prominent member.
They are placed second in the Bundesliga table as of now, and with just three match-days remaining, they seem to have ensured a second-place finish, since they have a lead of seven points over the third-placed Wolfsburg.
They have had the best defense in the entire German top flight this season.
They have let in a total of just 25 goals from their 31 games till now, and note that none of the other 17 teams have managed to keep it below 30. In fact, even the mighty Bavarians had let in 40 goals.
Meanwhile, the River Islanders are placed 14th in a table of 18 in the Bundesliga. They have a lead of just one point over the relegation cut-off, and for the reason, their entire concentration will be to avoid getting the boot, rather that their chance to lift a trophy.
On top of that, they also have a poor h2h record against this foe over the years.
Likely, expect a Leipzig victory this Friday.
Florian Kohfeldt’s men had recorded a 0-1 win on the road against Regensburg in the previous round. In the meantime, the Red Bulls registered a 2-0 victory against Wolfsburg in the Quarters.
Going on, the River Islanders are on a four-match losing run, and they had lost seven of their past eight overall games. Note that they had also conceded three or more goals in three of the former four fixtures.
On the other hand, their counterparts were unbeaten in 24 of their preceding 30 overall games, and they had also won five of their last seven road trips.
