Steffen Schmidt - August 25, 2023
Watford vs Blackburn
English Championship
Date: 27 August 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 12:00 UK / 13:00 CET
Venue: Vicarage Road (Watford).
Watford and Blackburn will complete Matchday No 4 in English Championship with their Sunday clash exactly at noon at Vicarage Road.
The two teams have gone through identical trajectories at the start of the 2023/24 season. They have four points each after three rounds and they’ve both suffered their maiden losses of the campaign last weekend.
The big difference between the two outfits is the playing style, though. Watford rely heavily on defense and are very difficult to break down at the beginning of the season.
The Hornets allowed only one goal in the opening three games of the new campaign and it came eight days ago in a 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.
Head coach Valerien Ismael can be worried regarding his team’s attacking showings as Watford failed to find the back of the net in either of the previous two league affairs.
Blackburn, on the other side, play attacking-minded football under Jon Dahl Tomasson at the start of the season.
If we count preseason friendlies, each of the last five matches the Riversiders have played this summer saw the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score option coming in.
The run includes the last weekend’s 1-2 defeat to Hull City. It is worth noting that Blackburn’s left-back Harry Pickering got sent off early in the game, allowing Hull to dominate at Ewood Park.
Watford have been very tough to break down since the start of the season and Blackburn showed decent defensive efforts while playing with ten men on the pitch for most of the clash against Hull City last weekend.
The Under 2.5 goals FT pick is well worth backing at the 1.90 odds. We will alternatively take the Hornets to win at the 2.00 odds because of their dominance in the H2H tie against the Riversiders in the matches at Vicarage Road.
