Wales vs Albania
International – Friendlies
Date: Saturday, 5 June 2021
Kick-off at 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium.
Wales had made it to the semis of the previous Euros, and are determined to give a better attempt this time around. They are at home, and against the 66th ranked Albania, they have the edge.
Wales are placed 17th in the same list, and have risen as one of the best teams in the continent.
They were a part of League B in the latest edition of the Nations League, and at the end of the campaign, they had topped their group, and secured promotion to the top-most League A. Thus they will fight it out with the best teams in the world in the next edition.
They had also secured a second-place finish in Group E in the Euro Qualifiers, and had the best defense in the group. The second spot ensured entry into the Euros, and it needs to be noted that the first-placed team was Croatia – finalists of the 2018 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Albania were a part of League C in the UNL, and they had missed out on the Euros, with a fourth-place finish in Group H in the Qualifiers.
On top of that, they have a poor record on the road, and also have a poor h2h record away from home against this rival.
By the looks of things, expect a Wales victory this Saturday at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Wales had won four of their past five overall games, and they were unbeaten in 15 of their preceding 17 matches. At home, they are on a 12-fixture unbeaten streak, and 10 of these were wins.
On the other hand, their counterparts were winless in 19 of their former 32 match-ups, and they have won just five times on the road in the past four-year period.
Moreover, Albania also have a poor h2h record against this foe away from home. And since Wales are determined to deliver a great Euro campaign (which commences in two weeks), expect a superb performance from them this weekend.
