Peter Green - July 24, 2019
Waasland-Beveren vs Club Bruges
Belgium- First Division A
Date: Saturday, 27 July 2019
Kick-off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Freethiel Stadion (Beveren).
Waasland-Beveren had their skins saved from relegation after they came in second from last in the table last season. The squad fared no better in the Europa League group as well and finished fourth with just four wins from ten games.
The hosts had the worst home record last season, with just three victories to their name and conceded far more number of goals than they managed to score.
The visitors, on the other hand, were part of the top tier throughout their campaign and finished behind league leaders Genk with fifty-six points. The team were just as impressive in the Championship Group where they came in second to make it to the Champions League qualifiers.
It’s certainly going to be a one-sided game on Saturday, with the away team sizing up as the better of the two to clinch the win.
Club Bruges failed to pick up a win on just two occasions in their last five trips on the road in the Championship group. They were just as good in the league as well and racked up twenty-eight goals in their fifteen outings.
Additionally, out of the seven times that the teams have locked horns at this venue, the visitors have come out on top on four occasions, while Waasland-Beveren have tasted success just twice.
The home team also had a very dismal campaign in the previous season and avoided relegation by no more than a whisker.
We can certainly expect the away side to post a comfortable victory in the opening clash between the two teams, with the hosts unlikely to find the back of the net more than once at the most.
