Steffen Schmidt - July 5, 2023
Vestmannaeyjar vs Fram
Icelandic Besta deildin
Date: 8 July 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Hasteinsvollur (Vestmannaeyjar).
Vestmannaeyjar scored two goals in quick succession in the second half of the clash against Akureyri in the previous round ten days ago at Hasteinsvollur.
They will play the second consecutive home match this Saturday, taking on bottom-half rivals Fram in the 14th round of Icelandic Besta deildin.
Fram will also enter the tie in high spirits after beating Kopavogur 3-2 on the home patch last Wednesday (ten days ago).
The visitors thus still sit one point above Vestmannaeyjar in 9th place in the league table (out of 12 teams).
The main issue for head coach Jon Thorir Sveinsson is the team’s inability of translating the home form to travels.
Fram have managed to claim just one point from six away outings in this term of Besta deildin, conceding as many as 20 goals in the process (more than three per game).
The visitors boast the worst defensive record in the entire league with 32 goals shipped in 16 affairs.
They have allowed at least three goals in each of the last five away fixtures in the elite class of Icelandic football.
This will be the music to the ears of manager Hermann Hreidarsson whose men have claimed three of their four wins at Hasteinsvollur this season.
Fram do not play defense at all on travels. They have also shipped two goals in the home victory over Kopavogur in the previous round. Knowing that we have witnessed some proper goal fests in recent H2H history between these counterparts, the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score pick has to be the way to go at the 1.72 odds.
We will also take the 1.85 odds offered for the home win bet knowing that Fram have five losses and a draw in six away fixtures this season.
