Valencia vs Las Palmas Prediction & Match Preview

Steffen Schmidt - August 16, 2023

Valencia vs Las Palmas
Spanish La Liga
Date: 18 August 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 20:30 UK / 21:30 CET
Venue: Estadio de Mestalla (Valencia).

Valencia got off to a flying start with a huge three-pointer from Seville as substitute Javi Guerra found the back of the net with two minutes on the clock for Los Che.

The team led by Ruben Baraja thus successfully survived a very tough opening round test against UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla last weekend.

They will have a nice opportunity to back it up on Friday evening in the home clash against Las Palmas in Gameweek No 2 at Estadio de Mestalla.

Baraja has a limited roster and it is hard to expect much from Valencia this season in general, especially since their main star (lone star) Samu Castillejo is also on the verge of a transfer.

Nevertheless, Baraja is very much capable of getting the most out of this young team. He has had an extraordinary preseason with the wins over Spartak Trnava, St. Gallen, and Alaves before a slender defeat to Aston Villa.

The match against Las Palmas provides the hosts with a nice chance to claim the spoils as the newly-promoted outfit will obviously still need some time to bed in all the new arrivals and adjust to life in the top flight.

Las Palmas took a point on the opening day, playing out a 1-1 draw to Mallorca six days ago. The teams had two shots on goal apiece in the 90 minutes of play.

Knowing how tight Valencia are expected to play this season with the personnel on Baraja’s disposal, we can hardly back goals galore at Estadio de Mestalla.

Valencia vs Las Palmas Head-to-head

  • It has been five years since Las Palmas have last been in the elite and back then they suffered a 4-0 defeat in the trip to Estadio de Mestalla.
  • Las Palmas have generally struggled historically in Valencia, winning just one and losing four of the last seven visits there.
  • We have seen three or more goals in five of the last seven head to head affairs between these rivals.

Valencia vs Las Palmas Prediction

The Under 2.5 goals FT pick has to be the way to go here at the 1.61 odds knowing about the limits in both rosters at this stage of the season.

As for the outcome, we fancy Valencia to edge their way to another win on the back of Seville success. The home win is paid at the 1.75 odds.

Valencia vs Las Palmas Betting Tips

  • Under 2.5 goals FT @ 1.61 (8/13)
  • Valencia to win @ 1.75 (3/4) odd.
