Valencia vs Alaves
Spain – LaLiga
Date: Friday, 27 August 2021
Kick-off at 21:15 UK/ 22:15 CET
Venue: Estadio de Mestalla.
Valencia are one of the best teams in the competition, and they have begun their new campaign on a great note. Meanwhile, Alaves are counted amongst the weakest, and they have made a mess of their season till now. Likely, expect a win for the former.
Valencia had finished 13th in the Spanish top flight the last season, and had remained unbeaten in 23 of their total 38 fixtures through the run.
They had scored a total of 50 goals in the process, and despite these stats, they were not in the running for any of the European spots.
For a club of their stature, it was an underachievement, and they are determined to make amends. As of now, they have started their new season on a high. The team is unbeaten so far, and they are placed sixth in the table.
Also, with titans Real Madrid and Barcelona going through issues of their own, this is the opportunity for the likes of them to go after a podium spot.
In the meantime, Alaves had finished 16th in the table in 2020-21, just a single spot above the relegation cut-off, with a surplus of just four points. So far they have shown no indication as to there would be any change in their form and performances.
The team has so far been on a losing streak, and at present they have conceded the most number of goals in the league as well.
On top of that, they also have a poor h2h record against this foe.
By the looks of things, expect a win for Valencia this weekend.
Valencia were held to a 1-1 draw by Granada the last match-day. In the meantime, Alaves lost 0-1 at home against newly-promoted Mallorca.
Going on, Valencia were unbeaten in nine of their last eleven overall matches, and they had won eight of their previous nine appearances at this venue.
Note that they had scored three or more goals in five of their last nine home games, and two or more goals in 10 of their past 15 appearances here.
On the other hand, their counterparts had lost six of their preceding ten fixtures, and they had remained winless in 11 of their former 13 road trips.
Taking into account these observations, league standings of the past season, and former h2h stats, expect a win for Valencia.
