Peter Green - July 22, 2019
FC Utrecht vs Zrinjski Mostar
Europa League Qualification
Date: Thursday, 25 July 2019
Kick-off at 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET
Venue: Stadion Galgenwaard (Utrecht).
One look at the respective leagues of both teams, and it’s a no-brainer who the favorite for the game is. While Utrecht comes from the immensely talented Eredivisie, their guests are a part of the top division of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mostar had finished second in the table last season, and despite trying their best, had to end up five points behind Sarajevo. Moreover, they had underperformed on the road compared to home games, and this severely affected their league standing.
Their opponents had to lock horns with some of the best in the business in the form of PSV, Ajax, Feyenoord, etc, and still held their end to the best of their ability. Especially at their home, the squad had been on a roll.
First and foremost, the Eredivisie is vastly superior to the Bosnian league, and on top of that, Utrecht has the home advantage, where they have been particularly strong. Moreover, they were unbeaten in seven of their last eight games and is on a streak of nine unbeaten ties in front of the home crowd.
In addition, the club also had a seven-match winning run at this same venue, towards the end of last year.
Going on, Mostar was winless in eight of their last twelve on the road and lost two of their last three as well.
Furthermore, the Dutch side had scored two or more goals in ten of their last sixteen overall match-ups, and in 12 of their last 19 at the Stadion Galgenwaard.
With these in mind, count on the hosts of the day to take the win this Thursday.
