Peter Green - May 20, 2019
FC Utrecht vs Heracles
Netherlands – Europa League Playoff
Date: Tuesday, 21st May 2019
Kick-off at 17.30 UK/ 18.30 CET
Venue: Stadion Galgenwaard (Utrecht).
Utrecht almost has a leg in the finals of the playoffs, after a fantastic victory on the road against Heracles the last match-day. The visitors had taken control of the game right off itself. The hosts were under such pressure that they were forced to concede two early yellow cards.
By the time the half time whistle was blown, Utrecht had put two goals on the board. In the next 45 minutes, they succeeded in protecting the precious lead. Now, all the team needs to do is defend the lead at their home, where they have put great numbers recently. On top of that Heracles has a poor away record in the last few games.
Utrecht has a huge mental edge as they won the away leg with a two-goal margin, and kept a clean sheet to go along with it. In addition, they were unbeaten in their last seven home-ties, and in 14 of their last 17. At one point of time, they had a seven-game winning streak going on at home soil.
In the meanwhile, Heracles lost their last four matches in a row and conceded two or more goals in seven of their last ten. On the road, they lost the last three on the trot and was winless in 16 of their last 21. They also lost 13 of their last 21 away ties.
As things stand, expect the hosts to go on strong, and record a comfortable win to take a spot in the finals.
