Turkey vs Netherlands
World Cup Qualifications
Date: Wednesday, 24 March 2021
Kick-Off at 17.00 UK
Venue: Ataturk Olimpiyat Stadi, Istanbul
Turkey and Netherlands will take on each other in one of the most exciting games of the opening round of the World Cup 2022 Qualifications.
Both sides enter the tie hoping to snatch important points against direct rivals in the battle for the top spot in the group. Turkey enjoyed a fabulous EURO 2021 qualifying run, finishing Group H just behind France with 23 points from 10 games.
Interestingly, Senol Gunes’ men took four points from the two encounters against the world champions back then.
The rock-solid defence represented the main strength for the Turkish team in the previous qualifying run. They shipped no more than three goals in ten outings, despite playing Les Bleus twice in the process.
Gunes will have a very strong centre-back competition for this particular match as he called up Leicester’s Caglar Soyuncu, Juventus’ Merih Demiral, and Liverpool’s Ozan Kabak.
Netherlands have a positive head to head record with five wins, three draws, and just two defeats in ten meetings with The Crescent-Stars.
However, Turkey claimed four points when the two sides last battled it out, in the qualifying campaign for the 2016 EURO in France.
Just one of the last eight head to head matches between the two outfits saw three or more goals scored.
Netherlands will also play at the upcoming EURO 2021 this summer after finishing their qualifying campaign at the second place (behind Germany) in Group C. Oranje conceded seven goals in eight qualifying affairs, proving to be relatively tough to break down themselves. Six of their last eight outings have ended with fewer than three goals scored.
Based on everything written above, we see the Under 2.5 goals FT as by far the best betting option you can take for this match. It is paid at the exciting 1.95 odds. As for the outcome, we will go for the value and back the draw at the odds of 4.00.
