Steffen Schmidt - February 17, 2023
Troyes vs Montpellier
French Ligue 1
Date: 19 February 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 14:00 UK / 15:00 CET
Venue: Stade de l’Aube (Troyes).
Troyes host Montpellier in a match that has all the ingredients of a relegation six-pointer at this stage of the season in Ligue 1.
The hosts will be desperate to rebound from a dreadful series of results and performances. They lost six and drew one of the previous seven matches across competitions.
Head coach Patrick Kisnorbo has plenty of reasons to be worried regarding his team’s defensive displays in the recent outings.
Troyes now have the weakest defensive record in the whole league with 52 goals shipped in 23 matches so far in the season.
Kisnorbo’s men shipped at least three goals in four of the previous five league games. They have allowed eleven goals in the previous three losses in the league.
This will be the music to the ears of Teji Savanier, Elye Wahi, and company. This duo has combined for 17 goals for Montpellier this season.
Both Savanier and Wahi were on the scoreline last weekend in a huge 3-0 drubbing of direct relegation rivals Brest at Stade de la Mosson.
La Paillade now have two wins in the last four league matches and they will enter this tie in much higher spirits than the rivals.
Troyes have just not been capable of defending their own goal in the recent matches. The fact they allowed as many as eleven goals in the previous three outings says enough. Montpellier came up with a strong attacking display in the drubbing of Brest last weekend.
We will back Montpellier to win & Over 2.5 goals FT pick at the odds of 4.00. Alternatively, we will also take in-form Elye Wahi to score anytime for the visitors at the 2.62 odds.
