Peter Green - October 17, 2019
Tottenham vs Watford
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 19 October 2019
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London).
Tottenham have been hit by a sharp decline in form and will be banking on home advantage to see off the visitors who can slump no further down the table as they have hit rock bottom.
Things have been heading south for Mauricio Pochettino’s men who are sporting a dismal two-match losing streak in all competitions. The hosts were stunned by Brighton who slotted three unanswered goals past them in their last clash on the road.
Prior to that matchup, Spurs were at the losing end of a hefty 7-2 scorecard against Bayern Munich, that too in front of their home crowd. Be that as it may, Tottenham have been faring a lot better at home in the Premier League and have admitted defeat just once in their last four domestic games here.
Furthermore, their counterparts for the week are the worst team in the cluster. The visitors are yet to have a taste of success in their campaign and have garnered no more than three points from a possible fifteen in their recent clashes.
Watford have not been a threat on the road as well, and have lost without finding the back of the net in three of their previous four outings. The Hornets have hardly troubled Tottenham in their previous visits to both this venue and to White Hart Lane too.
Given their poor run of form at the moment, the win is more than likely to swing in favor of Tottenham at the last blast of the whistle.
Additionally, the home team have been a lot more clinical on home soil and have scored two goals or more in three of their last four Premier League games here. With a defense as leaky as the one that Watford have, count on a high scoring affair by all means.
