Steffen Schmidt - April 25, 2023
Tottenham vs Manchester United
English Premier League
Date: 27 April 2023, Thursday
Kick-off at 20:15 UK / 21:15 CET
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London).
Tottenham and Manchester United will wrap up the happenings in Gameweek No 33 on Thursday evening at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
This match will represent the last train to catch for the hosts in their quest for the top-four finish and a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Spurs’ chances indeed look slim after back-to-back defeats to Bournemouth and Newcastle in the previous two rounds.
The losses are not even the worst part as the manner in which they came was especially painful for the team’s fans.
The fact that Tottenham allowed nine goals in the last two games says enough about their current form and the situation in the dressing room.
Cristian Stellini is only an interim manager but the way in which he has led the team in the last several weeks has been criminal.
Tottenham won just one of the previous five league games and are now six points shy of fourth-placed Manchester United who have a couple of matches in hand on Spurs as well.
The Red Devils will enter the tie in an opposite mood after a big victory over Brighton in the weekend’s FA Cup action. Erik ten Hag’s troops advanced on penalties after a goalless draw on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
When it comes to Premier League, Manchester United have won each of the last three outings without conceding a single goal in the process.
Tottenham’s back line has been non-existent in the last couple of weeks and we do not expect Stellini to shift the team’s fortunes around any time soon. The match against Manchester United comes at the worst possible moment for the hosts and we have no other option but to back the Red Devils at the 2.37 odds here.
Spurs shipped nine goals in the last two league outings. We will take the 2.50 odds offered for Man United’s top scorer Marcus Rashford to find the back of the net on Thursday.
