Peter Green - July 23, 2019
Torino vs Debrecen
Europa League Qualification
Date: Thursday, 25 July 2019
Kick-off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Olimpico di Torino (Turin).
With AC Milan facing a ban from partaking in the Europa League this season, for breaking the financial fair play rules, Torino have taken their place to compete across Europe.
The squad finished seventh in the league, in the previous season, and ended their campaign with a 3-1 win over Lazio at home. They have also been faring well in their friendlies so far and will be hoping to get off to a winning start in their opening clash with the side from Hungary.
The latter posted a comfortable 3-0 win over Kukesi in the first leg of the previous round but were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw in the return clash. There was certainly a dip in standards for the away side in that final game, which saw them give away the major share of possession and make far fewer attempts at goal than their foes.
The Italian outfit are likely to make light work of the visitors this week, as a win for the away side just does not fit in the equation.
The odds are certainly favoring a comfortable win for the home team as they welcome the visitors for their maiden clash on Thursday.
The away team’s performance in their last trip on the road points out their inconsistency in keeping up a winning run of form. They have been dismal in all of their last five outings, and are without a win in each of them.
The hosts, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last five games on home soil and will be rearing to kick start their Europa campaign with nothing less than a win.
Expect the home team to come out on top in both halves, and a clean sheet to their name at the last blast of the whistle.
