Sofia faced heartbreak the last season, as they missed out on the title by the thinnest of margins. Despite their three-game winning run towards the end of their campaign, they ended up one point behind eventual champions, Ludogorets.
They are back to make reparations for that and registered a massive 4-0 win in their first leg of this European tie. At home, despite their visitors racing to three yellow cards within half time, they remained composed and netted four unanswered goals to practically ensure their ticket to the next round of the competition.
Podgorica was in for a tough reality check after they left the comforts of their domestic league. The team was on an unbeaten run of five fixtures at the end of their recently-concluded league campaign but failed to show any of that form in the continent.
The first leg ended in a massive win for the Bulgarians. They lead in aggregate by 4-0, and if they are to record even one goal in this return leg, the hosts will have to register six in order to progress.
Moreover, with such a scoreline to overcome, Titograd will have to go after the opposing defense right from the first minute of the game, which in turn will leave vast empty spaces for the in-form frontline of the guests to exploit.
Moreover, Sofia scored two or more goals in their last two fixtures, while their counterparts conceded two or more goals in six of their last nine in front of the home crowd.
This is, in all probability, going to end with a win for the visiting side.
