Talleres Cordoba vs Rosario Central
Argentina – Superliga
Date: Friday, 17 August 2018
Kick-Off at 23:00 UK / 00:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes, Cordoba.
Talleres Cordoba are looking to bounce back from the opening loss to Boca Juniors as they host Rosario Central in the first game of the second round on Friday evening at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes. Albiazul could not do much to avoid a defeat against the reigning champions who bagged the only gal of the game as early as in 9th minute through Cristian Pavon.
Talleres generally enjoyed one of the best campaigns in their history last year when they cane fifth at the end of the season. They were very hard to beat on the home patch in the previous tem, winning 9 of 14 games in front of their fans.
Rosario, on the other hand, struggled in the bottom half of the standings throughout the entire season. They ended up 20th of 28 teams and they had a poor record on travels, winning only 2 of 14 outings along the way.
Canalla took advantage of the easier first round fixture to pick up a three-pointer beating Banfield 1-0 at Estadio Dr.Lisandro de la Torre. The man who arrived this summer from San Lorenzo, Matias Caruzzo, made the difference netting the only goal of the game ten minutes after the interval.
Rosario thus backed up the impressive performance from the first round of Copa Argentina when they demolished the fourth-division outfit Juventud Antoiana 6-0 on the home patch. Striker German Herrera bagged a brace on the occasion.
This will be a very tough fixture for Rosario knowing about the impressive home form Talleres Cordoba enjoyed on the home court last year. The visitors will likely sit at the back and wait for their chances from counter attacks which is why we’ll predict a low-scoring contest here.
