Sweden vs Italy
FIFA Women’s World Cup
Date: 29 July 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 08:30 UK / 09:30 CET
Venue: Wellington Regional Stadium (Wellington).
Sweden and Italy will fight for the top spot in Group G on Saturday when they take on each other in Matchday No 2 of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup at Wellington Regional Stadium.
Both outfits opened the competition with narrow and hardly-fought victories in the first round.
Sweden needed a second-half comeback to dispatch South Africa despite being enormous favorites ahead of the match.
Eventually, it was center back Amanda Ilestedt who came up with the winner at the death of the game, scoring a 90th-minute goal on the occasion.
We must say that Swedish defensive line looked vulnerable, as well as that the team’s main star Fridolina Rolfo was on target six days ago.
Sweden will now face the toughest test in the group but they still enter the tie as pretty clear favorites against Italy.
The Italians created very little in the final third in what was a rather boring game of football against Argentina on the opening day.
Nonetheless, they managed to break the deadlock three minutes from time thanks to a goal from substitute Cristiana Girelli.
We have seen only two goals in the last three matches Italy played which best describes the team’s playing style under head coach Milena Bertollini.
Italy will park the bus and wait for their chances from the counter-attacks on Saturday. We did not see much from Sweden in their opener against South Africa to grant their win here.
This is why we will go for the 2.00 odds offered for Italy to win or draw double chance pick while you can also take the 1.61 odds for the Under 2.5 goals FT bet here.
