Steffen Schmidt - February 20, 2022
Swansea City vs Bournemouth
English Championship
Date: 22 February 2022, Tuesday
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Swansea.com Stadium.
Bournemouth will be searching for their fourth consecutive win on Tuesday evening when they travel to Wales to battle mid-table Swansea City in the 34th round of Championship.
The Cherries made a huge step towards automatic promotion by taking advantage of the somewhat easier schedule and picking up successive wins over Barnsley, Birmingham City, and Blackpool in the previous three rounds.
On paper, they should have another “not tough” opposition in Gameweek 34 because Swansea City have had a subpar campaign so far in the season and are miles away from the promotional challenge.
The Swans climbed to the 16th place in the league table after two wins in the previous three league affairs.
Head coach Russell Martin can be satisfied with the form his men have shown lately in their own backyard as Swansea City won three and lost one of the last four home matches in the league.
The hosts have been playing tight football at home recently as three of the last four games they played at Swansea.com Stadium ended with fewer than two goals scored.
The same scenario has happened in three of the last five of Bournemouth’s outings across competitions. Could we be in for a tight low-scoring affair on Tuesday night in Wales?
Swansea City have consistently struggled to find the net against Bournemouth in the last several years. The visitors left a much better impression in this term of Championship and they are, after all, on the best way to earn the automatic promotion to the elite tier come May.
This is why we see merit in backing the away win at the 2.40 odds. The Under 2.5 goals FT bet also looks good at the 1.80 odds since the Swans have also improved their defensive form of late, especially in the clashes on Welsh soil.
