Both teams faced each other last Thursday at Wankhede, where Mumbai Indians claimed a solid four-wicket win. With three straight victories, Mumbai now looks back on track and in the race for a playoff spot.
On the other hand, that loss was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fourth defeat in their last five matches. As a result, SRH has dropped to second-last in the standings, while Mumbai has moved up to sixth place.

In the past five seasons, MI has had the upper hand, winning four out of the last five matches against SRH. Notably, in their 2023 encounter, MI chased down a target of 201 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Heinrich Klaasen (SRH): Klaasen has been the most reliable batter for SRH this season. While the rest of the batting lineup has been inconsistent, Klaasen continues to deliver. He scored 37 runs in his latest game against Mumbai, and his lowest score so far is an unbeaten 21 against Punjab Kings.
Ehsan Malinga (SRH): Ehsan has become a key bowler for SRH in the last two matches. He picked up two wickets in each of his last two IPL games, including a solid performance against Mumbai Indians.
Suryakumar Yadav (MI): SKY has scored at least 27 runs in every game for Mumbai this season. He may not be in the top three for the Orange Cap, but his consistency stands out. In the last match against CSK, he smashed an unbeaten 68 off just 30 balls, showing his explosive form.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are struggling in the league with four losses in their last five games. All these defeats have been disappointing. They come into this match after a four-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians in the reverse fixture. Facing MI again at home will be another big test. With Mumbai’s steady top order, SRH bowlers could leak plenty of runs.
Mumbai’s top order is finally in form. Rohit Sharma has looked sharp in the last two matches, scoring his first fifty of the season against CSK. Rickelton has also helped push the score past 30 before the first wicket in recent games.
While other MI batters have been inconsistent, SKY has been reliable—scoring at least 27 in all eight matches. Backing him to score 28+ is a good pick.
SRH have been strong with six-hitting at home, smashing over 10.5 sixes in three of their last four home games.
