Steffen Schmidt - March 16, 2023
Stoke vs Norwich
English Championship
Date: 18 March 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: bet365 Stadium (Stoke-on-Trent).
Stoke host Norwich in one of the most interesting games of Matchday No 38 in English Championship on Saturday afternoon at bet365 Stadium.
The hosts extended their great spell of form by holding the red-hot Middlesbrough to a 1-1 stalemate on Tuesday evening at Riverside Stadium.
It was a fantastic overall performance from Alex Neil’s men who limited mighty Boro to just three attempts on target away from home in mid-week.
Stoke now have two wins and a draw in the previous three league games and we fancy them to maintain the positive thread here against Norwich.
The visitors had broken into the top-six of the Championship standings after a three-win streak in late February and early March.
However, they terminated it with a shockingly poor performance in a 0-1 home defeat at the hands of out-of-form Sunderland in the last game of the Matchday No 36 last Sunday.
This sequence of scores best illustrates Norwich’s 2022/23 Championship campaign. It was a journey full of ups and downs and you can never know which face the team would show in the next game.
Nevertheless, this is a very tough matchup for David Wagner and his troops who are up against a very strong and in-form rival this weekend.
Stoke are miles away from the promotional challenge but they have bagged eight goals in back-to-back wins over Sunderland and Blackburn (promotional hopefuls) before holding Boro to a 1-1 draw away at Riverside Stadium.
This matchup has offered us goal fests in recent years and we do not expect anything different to happen this time around. Both outfits have been playing attacking-minded football of late and we see great value in backing the Both Teams To Score pick at the 1.80 odds.
Alternatively, Stoke City are well worth backing to win at the 2.70 odds considering their tremendous spell of form in recent outings.
