St. Patrick’s Athletic vs Cork City
Irish Premier Division
Date: 7 July 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Richmond Park (Dublin).
St. Patrick’s Athletic closed the gap on leaders Shamrock Rovers to four points after a demolishing 7-0 victory over the rock-bottomed UC Dublin last week.
They will continue the easier schedule this Friday when recently-promoted and penultimate-placed Cork City come to visit Richmond Park for the Gameweek No 23 fixture.
The Pats had six different scorers seven days ago. They have completely dominated the pitch from the start to the end of the game.
Jon Daly’s troops have now improved their home record to 8 wins, 1 draw, and only 3 defeats in 12 games at Richmond Park.
The atmosphere in the dressing room is at the highest level possible at the moment and we see the hosts as enormous favorites to ease past another rival on Friday.
Cork City are second from bottom in the league table. They have taken only five points in ten away outings this season.
They took just one point from the previous three league rounds and it came only thanks to a late equalizer from Joseph O’Brien Whitmarsh last week against Drogheda.
Cork City were completely outplayed on the occasion, allowing the counterparts 13 shots and delivering no more than 2 of their own in front of the home fans at Turner’s Cross.
We would be very surprised to see anything other than a commanding victory for the hosts on Friday night. Cork City produced a horrendous display at home against Drogheda seven days ago and they have lost seven of ten away fixtures since the beginning of the season, winning just one in the process.
Also, the Pats go into this on the back of a 7-0 win over UCD and they have won six and drawn one of the last seven clashes against Cork City. We will back the Pats to win by two or more goals difference at the 2.45 odds. The Over 2.5 goals FT pick also offers value at the 1.75 odds.
