Steffen Schmidt - July 14, 2023
St. Louis vs Inter Miami
USA MLS
Date: 16 July 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 01:30 UK / 02:30 CET
Venue: CITYPARK (St. Louis).
St. Louis City will have a nice chance to rebound from a tough 3-0 defeat at Los Angeles FC as they play host to the worst team in the league on Saturday evening at CITYPARK.
Bradley Carnell’s men are still at the top of the Western Conference standings with a two-point cushion on LAFC in the second place.
The loss to the reigning MLS Cup winners has snapped a three-win streak for the expansion team who have conquered the league by a storm in their debut season.
Carnell’s troops at the same time own one of the best attacking and defensive records in the competition.
Their attacking line should have plenty of room to deliver in the final third on Saturday against Inter Miami.
The visitors are still waiting for Lionel Messi’s debut but the clock is ticking as they are already eleven points below the play-in zone on the East.
Inter Miami extended their winless streak to ten straight league outings last weekend with a 2-2 stalemate against DC United in Washington D.C.
They have recently appointed new manager Gerardo Tata Martino who is hoping to shift the team’s fortunes around as soon as possible with the help of his famous compatriot who is yet to make his debut (won’t make it this weekend either).
The game against the Western Conference leaders is certainly not an ideal occasion for terminating a ten-game winless thread as we can hardly see the visitors doing much against a clearly stronger opposition on the road.
We have the match between the Western Conference leaders and the worst team in the league so far in the season.
St. Louis to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end is a bet well worth backing at the 2.30 odds. We will also back the hosts’ top scorer Nicolas Gioacchini to score anytime at the 2.20 odds.
