Spain vs Netherlands
FIFA Women’s World Cup
Date: 11 August 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 02:00 UK / 03:00 CET
Venue: Wellington Regional Stadium (Wellington).
Spain and the Netherlands lock horns in the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinal on Friday at Wellington Regional Stadium as the flagship competition reaches its business stages.
Both outfits looked impressive so far in the tournament, including their respective commanding wins in the round of 16 phase.
Spain bounced back from a shocking 4-0 defeat to Japan in the final group stage affair by destroying Switzerland 5-1 six days ago.
They were led by Aitana Bonmati who took her tournament tally to three goals by completing a brace on the occasion, while the remaining goals came from Laia Codina, Alba Redondo, and Jenni Hermoso.
Bonmati, Redondo, and Hermoso have three goals apiece to their names so far in the competition and will represent the main threat to the Dutch goal on Friday.
The Netherlands, on the other side, cruised to a 2-0 victory over South Africa in R16 as goals from Jill Roord and Lineth Beerensteyn made the difference five days ago.
Oranje have been very tough to break down so far in the competition, shipping only one goal in four outings courtesy of a 1-1 stalemate with the record winners USA.
The stakes are high in an elimination game and both teams have been very tough to break down so far in the tournament (with an exception of Spain’s 4-0 loss at the hands of Japan). In these circumstances, we will opt for the Under 2.5 goals FT as the main betting option at the 1.66 odds.
Alternatively, the value is with the Netherlands to avoid a defeat in regular time on Friday at the attractive 1.83 odds.
