Spain vs Faroe Islands Prediction & Match Preview

Peter Green - September 6, 2019

Spain vs Faroe Islands
EURO Qualification
Date: Sunday, 8 September 2019
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue:  Estadio El Molinón (Gijón).

Spain are being heavily tipped as one of the front runners to at least reach the last eight of this competition and are currently the favorites to top Group F as well.

The home team went into the clash with Romania earlier this week on the back of a four-match winning streak. The squad are also on an unbeaten run on home soil and are by far the hands-down favorites to come away with all three points on Sunday when they welcome Faroe Island to Gijon.

The visitors have been a nervous bunch in their trips on the road, and have so far admitted defeat in both of their outings in the qualifiers, the last of which was a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Romania.

Getting the better of the Spaniards is a tough task as such and an even tougher one when it is in their own backyard. On top of that, the visitors are sporting disappointing away form at the moment.

So, it certainly goes without saying that they will have to run the extra mile if they are to salvage at least a consolation goal from their tie with the Spaniards, as a win is definitely out of the question.

Spain vs Faroe Islands Head to head (h2h)

  • Faroe Islands have lost each of their last three fixtures against this opponent.
  • Their previous encounter saw Spain clinch a comfortable 4-1 win.
  • Spain have won by a goal difference of two or more goals in each of their matchups.
  • All of their last three games have seen over 3.5 goals on the scoreboards.

Spain vs Faroe Islands Prediction

The home team will be optimistic of coming out on top without breaking much of a sweat in this one, and for good reason. Their previous matchup against each other in Torshavn saw Spain pull off a comfortable 4-1 win over the guests.

The away side managed not more than two measly shots on target in that clash and had to stick to defending deep in their own half for the most part of the game. Furthermore, Roberto Moreno’s men have been on roll in the comforts of their home and have already picked up maximum points from their last two games here, that too against the likes of Norway and Sweden.

Taking into account that they also found the back of the net five times from those clashes alone, even a -3 handicap will not be enough to stop Ramos and his boys from walking with the win on Sunday.

Additionally, all of their previous meetings have featured four goals or more on the charts by the end of the ninety minutes. By all means, expect a goal-scoring spree in this one as well.

Spain vs Faroe Islands Betting tips
