Slavia Prague vs Rangers
UEFA Europa League
Date: Thursday, 11 March 2021
Kick-Off at 17.55 UK
Venue: Sinobo Stadium, Prague
Slavia Prague claimed a big Leicester City scalp by eliminating the third-placed Premier League outfit 2-0 on aggregate in the last 32 round of the UEFA Europa League. They are set to play another British team in the last 16 round as the draw has joined them together with Rangers. Both Slavia and Rangers have been dominant in their respective domestic leagues this season.
The hosts are 14 points clear at the top of the Czech Liga standings with a brutal record of 18 wins and 4 draws in 22 games (63-15 goal difference), while the Gers have just secured the Premiership title by beating St. Mirren 3-0 at the weekend. It will be very interesting to see whether Slavia’s rock-solid defence will find the way to stop the Gers’ in-form attacking line.
Steven Gerrad’s lads bagged as many as nine goals in two clashes against Antwerp in the previous round of the competition. The visitors travel to the Czech capital on the back of six straight wins across competitions.
The Czechs have already established themselves as a major factor in the European circles in the last couple of years. They have reached the Europa League quarter-final two years ago and they managed to finish this term’s group phase campaign ahead of Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Nice winning 12 points in six games along the way. Slavia won each of the three group-stage matches on the home court. They have generally lost just one of the last ten home outings in the Europa League (0-1 against Chelsea in the mentioned quarter-final).
Rangers are unbeaten in 16 consecutive outings in all competitions. They’ve been super-impressive in the competition’s Group D with four wins and two draws in six outings against Benfica, Standard Liege, and Lech Poznan.
We believe it will be very hard to separate the two outfits on Thursday and the draw looks like the best betting option. You can back it at the odds of 3.30. The Under 2.5 goals FT is paid at the 1.90 odds.
