Steffen Schmidt - September 19, 2021
Silkeborg vs Aarhus
Denmark Superliga
Date: Monday, 20 September 2021
Kick-off 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: JYSK park.
Silkeborg and AGF will drop the curtain on the Matchday No 9 in Danish Superligaen on Monday evening when they take on each other at the JYSK park.
Silkeborg and AGF Aarhus have had diametrically opposite starts to the new season.
We expected AGF to shine after clinching the European spot in the previous term of the Superligaen, but it was actually the newly-promoted Silkeborg who made a much brighter beginning to the campaign.
The hosts have thus lost only one of eight league outings so far (to the likes of Midtjylland). They have played five draws in the process, but it can still be regarded as a great start if we know they were in the second tier last season.
Silkeborg held Brondby to a 1-1 draw last Friday. They fact they had eight shots on target against Danish heavyweights says enough about their form.
Speaking of the form, Silkeborg won two and drew one of the last three outings in all competitions.
AGF, on the other side, only managed their maiden victory of the season last weekend. However, it was a narrow one (1-0) against the rock-bottomed Vejle (who only managed to collect one point in the opening eight rounds).
AGF had previously been eliminated from the UEFA Europa Conference League by the likes of Larne, failing to beat the Northern Irish side in either leg.
AGF are particularly struggling to perform on travels this season. David Nielsen’s troops failed to find the back of the net in three subsequent matches on the road in this term of the Superligaen.
Silkeborg have been much better so far in the campaign and we can hardly see AGF shifting their fortunes around just in this fixture. The home win is well worth backing at the 2.25 odds.
