Steffen Schmidt - August 25, 2023
Sheffield United vs Manchester City
English Premier League
Date: 27 August 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 14:00 UK / 15:00 CET
Venue: Bramall Lane (Sheffield).
Manchester City survived a tough Newcastle challenge last weekend to maintain the perfect record after the opening two rounds of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Julian Alvarez made the difference for Pep Guardiola’s side eight days ago at Etihad Stadium. We must praise Phil Foden who came up with a great display in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne (long-term injury) and Bernardo Silva (a short-term injury).
The Citizens have thus kept their net untouched in the opening two rounds of the season, allowing just a single shot on target in each of the affairs in the process.
They will have the best chance yet to keep things quiet at the back once again on Sunday afternoon with the trip to Bramall Lane for the Matchday No 3 clash against newly-promoted Sheffield United.
Sheffield United do not look like a team capable of staying up for longer than a season. They’ve sold two of their best players from the last season during the summer transfer window and their inaugural two performances have not been top flight worthy.
The match against the reigning Premier League champions comes at a very difficult moment for the Blades who will obviously need to wait more on getting their inaugural elite-class points.
The difference in quality between these rivals is massive. Manchester City allowed only a single shot on target in each of the opening two fixtures while Sheffield United have not shown any offensive threat whatsoever in the inaugural two matches among the elite.
We will back the away win to nil as the main bet at the 1.72 odds while you can alternatively take the 2.35 odds for Man City to win by three or more goals difference.
