Steffen Schmidt - August 31, 2023
Sheffield United vs Everton
English Premier League
Date: 2 September 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 12:30 UK / 13:30 CET
Venue: Bramall Lane (Sheffield).
Sheffield United will search for their inaugural top-flight points on Saturday afternoon when they host Everton in a very important Matchday No 4 clash at Bramall Lane.
The Blades were minutes away from a shocking stalemate against the reigning treble winners Manchester City six days ago but they conceded an 88th-minute goal to lose the home fixture 1-2.
The team led by Pauk Heckingbottom have lost all three outings so far in the season but each defeat has come by a single-goal margin.
They are now looking at first winnable affair on the home patch as the out-of-form Toffees come to visit Bramall Lane.
Everton are also looking for their first points in the new season. On top of this, Sean Dyche’s men are also the only team in the league yet to score a goal in the 2023/24 campaign.
It is a subpar start to the season indeed if we know they’ve had two home matches against the likes of Fulham and Wolves so far.
Everton will have plenty of room to create in the final third at Bramall Lane but we truly worry about the lack of attacking potential in their current roster.
The outcome of this match could have serious implications to both teams’ seasons as these two outfits are legit contenders for the drop to Championship football next year, especially after making getting off to poor starts to the new campaign.
We expect an intense battle at the center of the pitch without too many clear cut openings for either side. In these circumstances, the Under 2.5 goals FT pick has to be the way to go at the 1.61 odds. We will alternatively back Sheffield United not to lose at the 1.53 odds.
