Bayer Leverkusen continued their marvelous spell of form two weeks ago when they claimed a huge Bayern Munich scalp, beating the reigning champions 2-1 after a second-half comeback at BayArena.
It was the fifth win on the spin across competitions for Die Werkself who have climbed to the eighth place in the Bundesliga table after a run of three successive wins in the domestic league.
European positions are now within reach and there are no doubts Xabi Alonso and his troops will be highly motivated to prolong their exquisite streak for as long as possible.
The winning run will face a serious test on Saturday afternoon when Die Werkself visit Gelsenkirchen for the Matchday No 26 game against relegation-threatened Schalke 04.
The hosts will also go into this on a high as they have made it eight subsequent league games without a defeat.
Schalke 04 managed to keep this run alive with a stoppage-time equalizer in the away clash against Augsburg two weeks ago.
They had also held in-form section leaders Borussia Dortmund to a 2-2 stalemate in the Ruhr Derby in the previous home match in the league beforehand.
Keeping things quiet at the back will be the main challenge for Schalke here, especially knowing that Bayer Leverkusen have bagged at least three goals in three of the previous five away outings in the league.
