Saudi Arabia vs Oman
Asian World Cup Qualification
Date: 27 January 2022, Thursday
Kick-off at 17:15 UK / 18:15 CET
Venue: King Abdullah Sports City (Jeddah).
Saudi Arabia have been the most pleasant surprise of the third round in the Asian World Cup Qualifications.
Despite being drawn in the same group with the likes of Japan and Australia, the Green Falcons managed to snatch a brilliant record of five wins and a draw in the opening six rounds of the competition.
They are four points above Japan and five points adrift of Australia in second and third place respectively with just four games left to play.
The team led by French manager Herve Renard will have a great opportunity to cement their place atop Group B rankings with a win over fourth-placed Oman on Thursday evening in Jeddah.
Oman are one of three underdogs in this group but they still have at least theoretical chances of making it to Qatar 2022 by causing some upsets in the final four fixtures of the campaign.
The visitors are four points shy of third-placed Australia at the moment and they do have the home clash against the Aussies on schedule for February 1st.
Saudi Arabians, however, need to take Oman seriously as the visitors managed to shock Japan 0-1 on the road in September last year.
Since then, Oman fell 3-1 at Australia and drew 1-1 at China in the previous two away outings.
Saudi Arabia kept their net untouched in four of the last five World Cup qualifiers. The run includes a 1-0 win over Japan and a goalless draw in Australia.
We can hardly see the hosts dropping the ball here. Saudi Arabia to win to nil is our main betting option at the odds of 1.90.
