Salzburg have been showing a real fighting spirit in front of the home crowd and are likely to give Napoli are a run for their money in this one.
The hosts put up a good fight against the reigning European Champions Liverpool in their most recent clash on the road and lost by a narrow 4-3 scorecard at the end of the ninety minutes. Jesse Marsch’s men have won their only other fixture though, which was a whopping 6-2 win over Genk at home.
Salzburg are also the only side in their domestic league to remain unbeaten. It is also worth mentioning that the home team have been taking their foes on with their guns blazing and are currently sporting a six-match winning streak on home soil.
Napoli, on the other hand, are surprisingly leading the cluster with four points to their name. The visitors shared the spoils with Genk in their last trip on the road. While at home, they stunned Liverpool by an impressive 2-0 scorecard.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have not been faring well in their recent outings in all honesty. They have just two wins to boast of from their last five, that too in all competitions. The away side have been fairly erratic in their clashes overall as well and have come out on top just once in their previous three games.
Moreover, the guests were at the losing end of a 3-1 scoreline in their last trip to the Red Bull Arena. Given the hosts’ positive run of form at the moment, the safest punt would have to be a double chance backing Salzburg rather than the Italian outfit.
Furthermore, despite picking up the win in all of their clashes here, Salzburg have kept a clean sheet just twice. The home team have conceded six goals already in Group E, which is the most by any side right now.
Considering that Napoli did breach this foe in their last trip here too, count on both teams to have their names on the scoresheet in this one.
