Rubin Kazan bounced back from a disappointing draw in their opening game and picked up all three points last week in their clash with Dinamo Moscow.
The hosts edged it past their foes by a 1-0 scoreline, and it did not come easy by any means. Their opponents had twice as many shots on target as the home side in that tie but were not clinical enough to beat the goalkeeper every single time.
Mikeltadze scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the game to ensure that all three points went to Kazan.
FK Akhmat got off to a positive start in their initial tie with Krasnodar on home soil but had a nightmare in their last trip on the road which saw them succumb to a 3-0 loss against Ural.
The away side worked the goalkeeper just twice in the ninety minutes while their counterparts hit the target eight times.
The visitors will have to put on a much better performance against Rubin Kazan this week if they are to avoid a second successive loss away from home.
The home team have fared well in their trips on the road so far, and have consistently found the back of the net on both occasions, if not the win.
Their first challenge on home soil is unlikely to end in dismay, given that they had an impressive run at home last season with just two defeats in their entire domestic campaign.
Additionally, Rubin Kazan have clinched the win in their last two meetings with Akhmat at this venue. So, the hosts certainly have the upper hand in the fixture on Sunday.
The visitors have not been impressive in their attacks so far, and have just one goal in the bag from two games. Expect a low scoring clash with Rubin Kazan likely to edge past FK Akhmat by a slender margin.
