Steffen Schmidt - August 31, 2023
Roma vs AC Milan
Italian Serie A
Date: 1 September 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
Roma and AC Milan will lock horns in the first derby of the 2023/24 Serie A campaign on Friday evening at Stadio Olimpico.
The outfits will go into the match in entirely opposite spirits. Roma had a nightmare start to the season, claiming only a single point from the opening two matches against the likes of Salernitana and Verona.
Goalkeeper Rui Patricio had another terrible display last Saturday when he conceded two goals from three shots on target, getting the weakest grades among all Roma players at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
If we count the preseason exhibitions, the Romans have conceded at least two goals in four of the last five games this summer, even including the clashes against Farense and Toulouse.
This will be the music to the ears of Olivier Giroud, Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, and company as AC Milan are firing on all cylinders at the start of the season.
I Rossoneri occupy the very top of the league table with two wins and six goals scored in the inaugural two outings of the campaign.
Pulisic, Giroud, and Leao were all on target last weekend in the 4-1 drubbing of Torino at Stadio San Siro.
AC Milan will enter the tie in much higher spirits. They are scoring for fun these days with ten goals bagged in the last three games, two of which were competitive. Roma’s goalkeeper Rui Patricio has not been in worse form for a while and we can hardly see the hosts getting much from this tie.
We like the look of the 1.83 odds offered for AC Milan to win in the “Draw No Bet” option while the alternative pick would be AC Milan to score two or more goals on Friday at the 2.75 odds.
