River Plate will have a nice opportunity to extend their winning streak on Thursday night when they host recently-promoted Instituto in the 21st round of Argentine Liga Profesional.
Los Millonarios are sovereign leaders in the league table after 20 rounds of the competition, sitting seven points clear of Talleres de Cordoba in the second place.
They boast the best attacking record in the league with 36 goals scored and they have won eight of nine Liga Profesional fixtures at Estadio Monumental this season.
The hosts further improved the atmosphere in the dressing room earlier this month by beating Brazilian heavyweights Fluminense in a super-important Copa Libertadores tie to jump to the second place in their group ahead of the final day fixture.
They are huge favorites on Thursday against Instituto who hold the 21st position (out of 28 teams) in the league table with only 5 wins in 20 matches.
The team led by Diegho Dabove have had their moments of magic in the top flight, such as the 2-3 victory over Boca Juniors on the road in late-March.
Nevertheless, they will now travel to the capital off the back of five straight defeats on the road, having scored just once in the process. Instituto allowed as many as nine goals in the previous three away outings in the league.
The difference in quality between these outfits is huge and have no other option but to back River Plate to win by two or more goals difference at the odds of 2.00.
We will alternatively take the 2.10 odds offered for River’s top scorer Lucas Beltran to find the back of the net on Thursday, knowing Instituto conceded nine goals in the last three away matches.
