Peter Green - July 15, 2019
Red Star Belgrade vs Suduva
Champions League Qualification
Date: Tuesday, 16 July 2019
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Rajko Mitić (Belgrade).
Red Star finished their league campaign the last season with a lead of 12 points and qualified in style for the CL prelims. They had recorded an astonishing 97 goals en route to the title, while the next best was just 71, and the one before that 63.
They were pitted against champions of the Lithuanian First Division, Suduva, against whom they have great h2h stats. But, with Belgrade clipped with the away handicap, they failed to win, and even register a goal against the Sudovians, who are already in line for another league crown, with a fine campaign.
Red Star has overcome the difficult away leg without incident, and even though they failed to score a goal, they managed a clean sheet. Now, at their home, all they need to do is repeat the heroics against this opponent, whom they have dominated in the past.
Belgrade holds a 100% unbeaten h2h record, and a 100% winning record discounting the draw in the first leg. They have also scored two or more goals in all of their meetings bar the last clash, and importantly, Suduva has not scored a single goal against them in all of their fights till this point.
As such, with the home advantage, the Serbians should take control of the proceedings.
