Red Star Belgrade have made it into the Champions League Group Stage in a 2-2 thriller Play-offs clash against Salzburg and they’ve been in fine form since, hosting Napoli for their Matchday 1 clash hoping to build on the performances and make an impact in Group C.
Red Star have outclassed Vojvodina and Radnik Surdulica in their last two outings and netted a high total of ten goals along the way, but edging past Napoli will be much more of a task.
The Italians come into the match after bouncing back to the winning ways with a 1-0 home win over Fiorentina and surely seem to have more depth in quality, ready to show it off.
Partenopei have thus bagged their third win in four Serie A outings and although their trip to Sampdoria (and a 3-0 loss) showed inconsistencies in their back line once again, Carlo Ancelotti will find the clash at Stadion Rajko Mitic a good chance to build on it – rated heavy favourites to bag the first points on the day.
This will be the sides’ first head-to-head encounter ever.
Red Star have secured a ticket to the Champions League group stage for the first time in decades.
Napoli need consistency early on but have more firepower and look to show it in Belgrade.
We will back them to do so and go for an Away win with a YES on Both teams to score, which combines to great odds of 3.50.
Red Star have shown off early in the competition and will surely be no sitting ducks, but we do see the visitors outgunning them in the end and snatching the important points.
With that in mind, we do feel we’re in for a thrilling clash and goals on the day – which has us going for Over 2.5 goals FT at 1.90.
Both sides have seen such contests early in their domestic campaigns and we do believe this should prove another such occasion, looking a great way to go about the market now.
