The Los Blancos are currently in possession of the second spot in the table, and they will try their very best to hold on to that position for this final game week of the season.
However, Athletic Bilbao are placed eighth in the table and are determined to climb into the seventh spot at the very least. They are level on points with the seventh-placed Osasuna, and are gunning for nothing but a win this Saturday.
The reverse h2h clash ended in a 0-2 win on the road for the Los Blancos, and now they are at home. They also won five of the past six overall h2h meetings, and they also delivered wins in three of the past four h2h clashes at this stadium.
The Los Blancos have a terrific h2h record against this foe over the years, and most importantly they have the luxury to play without pressure (but it is not like that perform worse in crunch situations though.
They failed to secure the league or the UCL this season, and a second-place finish seems like the absolute minimum – especially with some of their legends preparing to leave at the end of the season.
On the other hand, Bilbao are on a two-game losing streak, and it has been close to two months since they were able to register a win on the road.
By the looks of things, a win is expected for Real Madrid this weekend.
The Los Blancos are at home, where they managed to eight of the past ten appearances. They also have a dominant h2h record against this foe over the years – be it at this venue or on the road.
On the other hand, Bilbao lost four of their past five overall games, and they are also winless on the road in the past two months.
As things stand, a win for hosts Real Madrid would be a decent pick at 2.00 odd.
However, take note of the desperation by Bilbao. They have nothing to lose, and everything to gain by a win. And with Carlo Ancelotti’s men struggling a bit with their defense lately, the Both Teams to Score wager looks promising at 1.67 odd.
