Real Madrid vs Atalanta
UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 16 March 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium.
The Los Blancos was the sole Spanish team to secure a win in the first leg of the Round of 16. And now with Barcelona and Sevilla eliminated, and Atleti close to their exit, all hopes for La Liga glory depend on Zinedine Zidane and his men.
They have an aggregate lead of one goal, and that happens to be an away goal. Now all that remains is for them to take care of the rest of the job at their home.
The recent return of Sergio Ramos from injury will boost their chances, and so will the recent clutch performances of Karim Benzema.
And for all their heroics, La Dea have problems related to inexperience. Moreover, the Royal Whites have been historically good against Serie A clubs as well.
By the looks of things, expect Real Madrid to progress to the Quarters of the competition.
The first leg had ended in a 0-1 victory for the Spanish titans. They are also the most successful team in the competition, and have been terrifyingly good in crucial games in this tournament.
They also have the confidence of playing at home, and that too against an inexperienced side. Going on, Zidane’s men were unbeaten in 19 of their previous 21 overall fixtures, and they had scored two or more goals in 11 of their last 14 appearances at home.
On the other hand, their counterparts had lost two of their past five games, and were winless in five of their last nine road trips.
On top of that, Gasperini’s men have to go after goals as they are trailing in aggregate, and Zidane and his boys will easily exploit this loophole.
Likely, expect Real Madrid to secure an entry into the Quarters.
