Real Betis vs Roma
Europe – UEFA Europa League
Date: Thursday, 13 October 2022
Kick-off at 17:45 UK/ 18:45 CET
Venue: Estadio Benito Villamarín.
Betis have so far been the best of the lot in Group C of the Europa League. They are placed at the top of the table with a 100% winning record, and are determined to make it to the knockouts with their winning record intact. However, Conference League champions Roma will try to make the task tough for their Spanish counterparts.
Jose Mourinho was on cloud nine at the end of the last season, as he became the first manager to lift all three European titles. And his team even started this new campaign on a great note.
But they were totally unable to sustain that form. At present they find themselves out of the top-four in the Serie A, and they are placed second to last in their group in the Europa.
In addition, they lost their latest game in the competition – and that too against Betis, their opponents for the day. The Romans managed a single victory till now, and it came against the dead-last placed HJK.
However, Betis have a different story to share. They totally dominated their games in the tournament so far. Not only are they at the top of the table, but they scored the most, and conceded the least as well.
As things stand, I expect Real Betis to be the better team by miles on the pitch this Thursday.
Betis lost just twice all through this season, and one of these defeats even came against Real Madrid. They are constantly going on winning streaks, and particularly at home they have been a different beast to deal with.
They are scoring in plenty, and also have built a huge momentum. In fact, the last they lost at home was back in May, against Barcelona.
On the other hand, Roma are losing every other match-up, and particularly on the road they have been a real mess.
Moreover, they are under intense pressure, and are already trailing six points below their toppers. Chances are real high that they will commit a lot of mistakes this match-day.
I expect Betis to totally outclass their opponents one more time this Thursday.
