Steffen Schmidt - March 16, 2023
Reading vs Hull City
English Championship
Date: 18 March 2023, Saturday
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Select Car Leasing Stadium (Reading).
Reading will finally be looking ahead of a somewhat easier fixture on paper on Saturday afternoon as they play host to bottom-half neighbors Hull City in Gameweek No 38 at Select Car Leasing Stadium.
The Royals have indeed had a tricky schedule in the last month with the clashes against the likes of Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Millwall, and Blackburn in the last four rounds.
They have lost four of the last five matches as a consequence of such a difficult run of fixtures. Nevertheless, Paul Ince’s men are by no means in danger as they are still nine points clear off the red zone.
Reading have been struggling to create chances in the final third particular of late, failing to find the back of the net in four of the previous five league outings.
They should get more space to deliver here past Hull City’s back line, but we also have to say the visitors have improved defensively in the last couple of weeks.
The Tigers allowed only two goals in the previous four Championship affairs. None of these four games saw three or more goals scored.
Head coach Liam Rosenior was happy to see his troops holding promotional hopefuls Coventry to a 1-1 stalemate on the road seven days ago.
Reading do play much better at home than on the road this season but we are afraid they might struggle to break Hull City down here. The Royals failed to score in four of the previous five outings, while the Tigers have improved their defensive showings of late.
This is why we will go for the Under 2.5 goals FT as the main betting option at the odds of 1.72. The braver punters can chase Reading to win 1-0 at the 7.50 odds just because of the home court advantage.
