Punjab Kings faced their first loss of the season against Rajasthan Royals in their last match. They will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they take on a struggling Chennai Super Kings side, who have lost three matches in a row.
Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings have faced each other 28 times in the IPL, with CSK leading the head-to-head 15-13. While CSK has been historically dominant, PBKS has closed the gap in recent years.
In the last five seasons, PBKS has been the better side, winning four out of six encounters against CSK. Their aggressive batting and fearless approach have troubled CSK, especially in the middle overs.
At the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, the two teams are set to face off for the first time in IPL history, adding a new chapter to their rivalry.

Shreyas Iyer (PBKS): Shreyas Iyer looked aggressive early on, scoring 10 off 5, but couldn’t convert it into a big innings. Still, he looked in good touch, and the loss against Rajasthan Royals might make him more focused on Tuesday. Even though his performance with the bat was below expectations, he has a good chance to score in this match.
Arshdeep Singh (PBKS): Arshdeep has been Punjab’s best bowler so far. He has picked up 6 wickets in just three games, including a 3-wicket haul against Lucknow Super Giants. If he keeps bowling like this, he could put pressure on CSK’s struggling batting line-up.
Noor Ahmad (CSK): Noor Ahmad, the current Purple Cap holder, has taken 9 wickets this season. In the last match, he took one wicket and gave away 36 runs in his three overs, which was his least effective performance so far.
Rajasthan Royals ended Punjab Kings’ winning run with a 50-run victory in their last game. This loss could push Punjab to go all out for a win on Tuesday. Facing a Chennai Super Kings side on a three-match losing streak, Punjab has a strong chance of bouncing back.
Punjab Kings are still one of the top contenders to make the playoffs this season. Their recent loss will motivate them to return to winning ways. They also have an advantage as they’re one of the few teams yet to play four matches. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings have looked poor lately, with not much to show apart from Noor Ahmad, who has been consistently taking wickets.
Punjab’s captain will be eager to perform after a disappointing outing against Rajasthan. Despite that, he has scored 159 runs in the first three matches, staying not out in two of them. Given his form, backing him to score over 26.5 runs is a smart bet.
CSK’s batting has been inconsistent over the past few games. They haven’t scored more than 85 runs in the first 10 overs in their last three matches. With Punjab’s bowling attack, especially Arshdeep Singh in form, it’s unlikely CSK will cross that mark on Tuesday.
