Not only are PSV in spectacular form, but they are from one of the best domestic leagues in Europe. Whereas Midtjylland are from the comparatively weaker Danish top flight, and are also on the road. As such, expect a win from PSV this Tuesday at the Philips Stadion.
They had finished second in the Dutch Eredivisie the last season, below arch-rivals Ajax. These two teams have dominated the football scene in the country for the past several decades, though recently Ajax have taken the lead a bit.
PSV are determined to get back to the top of the pecking order, and a spot in the CL is almost a necessity for that. They are at home for this first leg, and the squad will be aiming to finish the tie off in this match-up itself, leaving little job for the return fixture.
In the meantime, Midtjylland had ended their previous league campaign on a sour note, and especially so on the road. The team was on a losing streak, and had conceded in plenty.
By the looks of things, expect a thorough win for hosts PSV this Tuesday.
Eindhoven are on a 13-game unbeaten run, and 10 of these are wins. They had also scored a total of 24 goals from their past six fixtures, while conceding just two from the last four. They have also lost just once at home since October of 2020.
On the other hand, their counterparts were winless in seven of their past twelve overall matches, and they have won just five times on the road in the past five-month period.
Taking these stats into account, and especially the difference in quality between the respective leagues, expect a convincing win for PSV this Tuesday.
