PSV and Galatasaray are set to take on each other in by far the most exciting clash of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round.

Neither PSV nor Galatasaray can be happy with the fact they are about to play each other for a spot in the third round of the UEFA Champions League. Both teams finished their respective domestic campaigns as runners-up last season.

While PSV were nowhere near challenging Ajax at the top of the standings in Dutch Eredivisie, Galatasaray lost the title only on the head to head record, having finished the Super Lig campaign lock on points with champions Besiktas.

The bookmakers see PSV as favorites both in this first game and over two legs. We can see where this is coming from because PSV have genuinely been the more impressive of the two teams last year.

German manager Roger Schmidt managed to keep all of his stars between the two seasons, including the likes of Eran Zahavi and Donyell Malen (at least for now). Malen has been linked with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund lately, following his appearance for the Dutch national team at the Euro 2020 this summer.

Galatasaray’s chances would increase if Malen does not show up in the starting line-up on Wednesday. The visitors did not change their squad much so far this summer either. They showed strong attacking displays in friendlies, bagging six goals in two wins over Dinamo Bucharest and Kasimpasa.
