Italy host Turkey in their maiden exhibition ahead of the 2024. The two teams will lock horns on Tuesday evening at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Azzurri are pretty big favourites to get the win but we can’t underestimate Turkey who have lost just one of eight Euro qualifiers.
Italy secured the automatic Euro qualification only thanks to a better head-to-head record against Ukraine. They held the Ukrainians to a goalless draw in a controversial final day fixture on German soil.
Turkey finally produced an impressive qualifying run. They topped Group D ahead of Croatia and Wales. The fact they’ve lost just one of eight qualifiers says enough. This match against Italy will be special for Turkey’s head coach Vincenzo Montella who has spent his entire playing career in Italy.
Italy have managed back-to-back wins over CONMEBOL sides Venezuela and Ecuador in a pair of friendlies in March this year.
The Azzurri now have three wins and a draw in the last four games under Luciano Spalletti. They also have tradition to back them up in this matchup with seven wins and three draws in the last ten clashes against Turkey.
The visitors go into this off the back of a painful 1-6 defeat at the hands of Austria in an exhibition in March. Turkey are winless in three subsequent outings. We fancy Italy to get the win at the 1.60 odds.
The value is also great with the Over 2.5 goals pick at the 1.80 odds. Three of Turkey’s last five outings provided three or more goals.
The same scenario happened in five of Italy’s previous seven matches in all competitions. Also, both teams scored in all but one of the last six head-to-head outings between Italy and Turkey.
